A Little Bit of Studying Never Hurt Anyone

I get it! I am weird!

I know, such a cliche, studying actually helps you learn.

Here is the deal, I have always loved school and done well in it, but when I entered the world of grade 11 and 12 I discovered I could no longer sit back relax and let my mind wander during class. I am thankful now that I came to that realization. I frequently take notes, ask questions and work hard to keep my grades at a level I feel proud of. This is a result of training myself to prioritize what is important in my life. That is why I spend my alone time with a textbook and a pad of paper, or that very least a highlighter; it helps me keep track of myself and my learning.

On days, like today, where my classes end early I tend to study for a few hours and enjoy time with my floor-mates when they are finished their days. This is one advantage of classes early in the morning, I get to spend time alone with my book. It is honestly the best feeling to sit down and finish homework or write down lecture slides for chemistry. I get the sense of accomplishment I need to get myself through the day when I finish even the simplest of problem sets or read a chapter for Psychology.

This habit of prioritizing my learning has proved to be an enormous help throughout my short stint in University thus far. I have enjoyed the dorm life but it is hard at times to hear everyone tell me I should go out when all I want to do is sit around with my notes and do my homework. The truth is I love my floormates, for the most part, but it there is absolutely no place like home. This sounds odd coming from an extrovert who needs the company to thrive, but it is also coming from the girl who is content studying in the same room as those who are playing video games.
